Protect yourself and your company from liability risks
The best way to protect yourself and your business against liability risks is through business liability insurance, because the German Civil Code states:
"Anyone who intentionally or negligently unlawfully injures the life, body, health, freedom, property, or any other right of another person is obliged to compensate the other party for the resulting damage."
Business liability insurance covers all activities that are typically part of the business purpose. Both the business owner and their employees are included. The insurance provides coverage, for example, if installation errors cause consequential damage to a customer or if bystanders are injured during work.
Certain professional groups with special responsibilities are required to take out professional liability insurance—this includes architects, tax advisors, and doctors. Self-employed professionals in advisory roles, who could cause financial losses to clients through faulty advice, should consider financial loss liability insurance.
Environmental liability insurance covers the risk of environmental damage.
Product liability insurance compensates for damages caused by defective goods or services supplied by the company—these are not typically included in standard business liability insurance.
